Where have all the Voice Mails gone?

Uograded an AT&T iPhone X to 11.2 and lost voice mail. I have tried the recommendations in,other threads: hard reboot, reset network settings, toggle aiplane mode on and off, toggling wireless on and off, calling voice mail, etc. I even turned the phone off, and left a message, which recorded but didn’t transcribe. Nothing has worked. I think new messages will record, but the historic ones are gone

I appeal to the wisdom of the hive-mind for suggestions on how it might be possible to recover the old messages.
