It was in 4.0 beta but not the GM and it was in the 4.1 beta but not in the public release. Is apple still perfecting it or something? Developers, did it seem buggy in the 4.1 beta?

4.1 has not been released yet.
It was actually included in the 4.0 GM, but was very buggy. It seems like Apple is still changing a lot of things with it, but no one knows when it will be released to the public.

Wow I'm sorry I didn't think about that. I thought it was a beta for what just came out yesterday but I guess that wouldn't make sense.
You ARE correct... The 4.1 SDK which includes Gamekit is out in beta for developers... 4.0.1 SDK is out in release version
Apple said upfront that it would be something added on later, it just wasn't quite ready for 4.0... Might not even be fully ready for 4.1...
