I use Mail on my iPhone with my gmail.com account.

I just wondered where is my mail stored on the iPhone once Mail checks and downloads new emails?

I am pretty sure that it is stored in a MySQL Lite DB. Not a whole lot is stored as separate files on the iPhone. Then again, it could save them as individual files.

Are you wanting to know the directory for SSHing?
Yeah, I wouldn't mind know that.

I just curious about how much space my emails were taking up on my iPhone, as some of the emails I have are quite big in file size (attachments etc.)

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 3_0 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/528.18 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/3.1.1 Mobile/7A259g Safari/525.20)

Attacments don't get downloaded unless you click on them. So someone can send you a 100mb file and the mail app won't care unless you explicitly open it from the phone, at least with IMAP. The email is stored in a database but not sure where it keeps fetched attachments. Probably a system folder?
