Where is my memory?

I have a 1tb HD, and with all my music, apps, photos, etc.. only about 250 is being used. My system profiler says i am using nearly 350 gbs... Any ideas on whats going on?

You say System Profiler says you are using 350GB (meaning it says that 650GB is available since it reports capacity and available, not used). What is saying you are using 250 GB?

Correct, I know I do not have 350 GB of data, I can only account for about 250 GB. 650 available.

Take a look at DiskInventory X (will not work in Mac OS X 10.7 Lion), OmniDiskSweeper, JDisk Report or GrandPerspective to see where your HDD space went to.

Btw, "memory" is not the same as "hard drive capacity":
