I just bought a sealed MBA and it didn't have the USB drive in the box for me to restore it if needed. How do I restore this thing if or when I may need too eventually?

It's an option from Apple for approx $70.00

Otherwise Apple now offers a restore option via your Internet connection.

Personally I prefer to have physical media so I spent the $70.00

Owning premium Apple products demands spending more money. It's how Apple grew to be so profitable. They operate on a high margin. A commendable accomplishment.

Or make your own for like $10?

So how do you actually access that interweb option when you swap out the SSD or anything like that? Or want to restore it? This is really new to me.

MAYBE you could check the printed manual. MAYBE you will find the answer for your question then.

I thought this USB doesn't work on the MBA?

Try this url ( mac world hint ).

Gives you a bootable usb flash drive at 10.7.2 ( or whatever is most recent ) and/or a bootable DVD that contains a complete install set ( not downloading Lion from internet ).
