I have a buzzing sound from hell on my new MB and it seems to be coming from the upper middle left hand side.

I'm trying to figure out if that's the fan or an electric current noise.

At any rate, it sounds like a very loud fluorescent light and is driving me crazy.

The MacBook's fan is located at the back of the system. The picture below shows its vents. Feeling the upper middle left side of my MacBook, I could feel that it is warm around that area. I'm guessing that the hard drive is there.

if you have your MB on a regular flat surface and that fan is always on you may want to contact apple about that...doesn't sound normal.

The MB HD is more or less under the right hand part of the place where you rest your hands either side of the touch pad - when you pop out the battery, it is located directly under the lock mechanism. So front right of the keyboard, where there are no keys.
