So I dropped my iPhone in a cup of beer. Stupid, I know. The only part submerged was the bottom quarter of the phone but now it won't turn on, won't charge, won't pop up in iTunes. I'm wondering where the water damage detector is and wherther a genius would be able to tell what happened.

Please help.

I'm pretty sure that it's in the headphone jack, but they'll still be able to tell if it's been damaged by liquid, especially beer. How about you just tell them what happened and suck it up instead of trying to scam them?

there is also one inside of the unit along w/ the one underneath the headphone jack. let it totally dry out. leave it be for 2-3 days and then try to turn it on. mine was water damaged and it wouldnt and it was unresponsive (dead). i let it dry out for that time period ( putting in in uncooked rice will help suck out moisture ), and then gave it a shot. it now turns on w/ the battery symbol but will not charge at all ...and has water burn damage all under the screen.

My guess, 16 Gallon Keg. Unless you are camping by the hose, you normally need a cup.

The water damage sensor is located next to the $200-300 you're planning on stealing from your Apple store's register. Haven't your parents taught you about that whole right vs. wrong thing?

It's down in the headphone jack. I believe it changes from white to orange when it gets wet. There is another one inside, but the Genius Bar can only check the headphone jack. As long as it doesn't smell like beer, you'll be fine.

It makes me wonder if the people saying this have a single mp3 or video on their itunes that they haven't downloaded from P2P or torrent.

I dont condone from stealing from Apple, but you swear you're squeeky clean. This is the internet man.

it actually changes from all white, to half white / half pink.

stick alcohol on a Q-Tip up the headphone jack
q-tip is WAY too big w/o trimming off some of the cotton ..unless they make some for "little people" ....not that i would know or anything ;)
