Why can't you buy a refurb from Apple? £2,499 inc VAT is surely one of the lowest prices you are going to find.

A fair proportion of the stock might be new anyway - the "refurbs" suddenly appeared when the new Nehalem pros came out, I don't think they were all suddenly returned by people trading up.

A good buy, a pity they don't do a student discount.

Very likely. I believe the configuration being sold, 500GB HD, 8800GT and two superdrives, was the retail 3.2GHz configuration.

I'm not as up on the processors as I was when I once built my own PC's, but isn't 2.93 the fastest Apple is offering right now? Or is the 3.2 the previous generation of processors?

Going to buy from the refurb store now. I have the 24" LED monitor, what's the cheapest card available that will work with it?
