Where to BUY AppleCare Protection Plan?

So my warranty for macbook pro retina is about to run out and I saw thats eBay is filled with those plans for half the price? Is this even legit?

How does this work when Apple.com price is $349.00 + tax

Please advise.

B&H Photo used to be cheaper for me here in Canada than the education pricing, but with exchange + shipping costs factored in it looks like the education store is now the way to go.
