I have seen bits about sites that allow you to search your area for schools, libraries, etc that need computer donations. I am looking for a site like that, if anyone can help out.

I'm getting rid of an old, never used SCSI scanner, a few external CD ROM drives (4X, I think), and some 56K modems. I hate to throw this stuff out. I'd love to see it go somewhere that it will get some use.

I'm in East Bay, Cali, if that helps identify charities that might be able to help out.

Thanks in advance.

do you have area councils in the states? in the uk, if you call up your area council and say you've got some stuff to donate they'll take it off your hands and divide it out amongst people.

If not, small churches are always desperate for stuff like that - they generally have pretty archaic hardware!

uh...we refrubish all the mac stuff and accrc donates it to needy individuals...schools...churcehes....russians..accrc stands for alameda county computer recycling center

check for a goodwill. any good will place might take it, or be able to tell you where you can take it. here in austin, we have a goodwill computer store; they have a museum of really old, classic computers that have been donated, as well as a lot of old computer equipment for sale. just a thought.

Aren't there any recycling shops? In the Netherlands you can give them you (working) goods and they sell it and give the money to charityprojects.

i never donated an Mac to a school before, but when ever i donate computer equipment, to a school i make sure it is working then just give them a call. usually they are more than happy to accept it.
