Hi,

So I finally figured how to access my iPhone 4 thru my comptuer using SSH. I went and changed the biteSMS for both the springboard and lockscreen icons and it worked perfectly. So now I want to SSH some ringtones, funny ones. Any idea where I can get some ringtones files? I don't want to make my own. I just want some funny ringtones already premade. So all I have to do is just copy them to the right phone location.

Thanks
AE

Just something to consider. When you SSH the ringtone files to the phone you lose them if you ever have to restore. If you USE the Ringtone feature in itunes to sync them you recover them on a restore. I copied all the ringtones i had previously downloaded from Cydia off the phone to the desktop and now sync them with itunes.

Ok i know how to ssh into my phone and that site is great for tones. i found one and saved it to my desktop but where exactly do i add it when i ssh my phone. and can i just drag it from the desktop?

Hi,

So I used the site mentioned above, all these are call ringtones? what about SMS ringtones? or alarm tones?
Also So I'm downloading ringtones from that site, but they are all mp3 files, how do i convert them to m4r

Thanks
AE

1. If you look down the list there is a catagory that says message tones.

2. Now getting them onto your phone. I use iphone browser, follow these instructions:

1. Find the tone you want, and convert it to AIFF format using the iTunes converter. Goto Edit>Preferences>Advanced>Importing and change encoder to AIFF
2. You then need to change the extension of this file. Right click the file in iTunes and select "Open in Explorer". Then goto Folder prefenced, click the view tab and uncheck the box that says 'hide known file extensions'. Then right click the file and rename it to 'sms-received1.caf'. Save this to desktop because it is easier to find
3. Open up WINSCP or equivalent program and connect. Then goto /System/Library/Audio/UISounds
4. Find the original 'sms-received1.caf' file on the phone and delete it.
5. In the left hand panel, goto desktop and find the new 'sms-received1.caf', drag and drop into UISounds folder.

How did you change the icon for bitesms? Can you make it anything you want?
