Can anyone recommend a third party, hopefully Apple Certified, to replace the battery? With the Apple Stores closed I'm hoping I can get my kid's battery replaced locally in Minneapolis. It is a "work at home" laptop, so a fast turn around would be needed.

Try Louis Rossmann in NYC - he does a superior job.

$275.

LOL. That's more expensive than Apple, and definitely isn't local to Minneapolis.

You can search for providers from here: https://getsupport.apple.com
You'll probably need to call around to see if the authorized providers are open– most will probably need to get a battery shipped in but may not need to keep the computer during the time you're waiting for the battery to arrive.

Umm wrong - Apple quoted $400 for the battery replacement on my 2015 MB.
It's not a battery you just screw off like the MBP or Air - these are glued to the keyboard/top cover. They replace the entire keyboard & battery assembly.

Rossmann is a lot cheaper and more honest than Apple IMO.
