i use exchange for my corp email and i have google as a personal email and iCloud also which is best for contacts i have one contact list so which place would u think is the best. or i am open to a different option.

I'm curious as well as I use Google contacts (I came from an android phone) but wouldn't be opposed to using iCloud. I wonder what iCloud offers that GV doesn't (such as transfer of phonebook to Bluetooth head-unit in a vehicle)

Definitely keep your contacts in Google, especially if they're already there. All you have to do is add your Gmail as an Exchange account on your iPhone (instructions here). Plus, Google Sync is compatible with everything; iCloud only works with iDevices.

I used both of them,
what I found is google contacts are more reliable than the iCloud.
Google much simpler and easier to use, also, faster.
Although, most of my contacts have my email & number.
So i get emails and text messages from them all the time.
Using google contacts, made it easier for me.

So actually, it depends on you, and which one you like or fits you more.

I use Google contacts as my main contact storage for gmail and iphone use. I occasionally export my main contacts from Google and import them into iCloud so that I have the same contacts for iMessage on my Macs. Never had luck setting up Google Contacts into the Address Book. It got ugly a few times.

I began using iCloud to store my contacts soon after I got my iPhone, and I am very happy using it. I've now also begun using the calendar. Both work very well for me. Although I've used gmail to store contacts before, along with Google Voice, etc, but never really warmed up to any of the google offerings.

I suggest fruux if you want to use carddav standard and keep older snow leopard machines synced with idevices

Just started using fruux - worked ok for you so far? I know they are a little startup, but with competition between google and apple will they stand the distance?

Google is better and easier to manage. However if you use pictures, the picture will be small. In iCloud, it will do full screen for pictures. Also, Siri works better with iCloud for contacts with establishing relationship. You can't establish relationships with google contacts. For example, if you tell Siri so and so is your wife, in google contacts it would create it as a "manager" as the relationship. However, it works correctly in iCloud.

I migrated from google contacts to iCloud for contacts.

I'd go with iCloud, mainly because they allow you to save a lot more fields than Google does. For example, if one of your contacts has a lot of phone numbers, email addresses, etc., iCloud will let you save all of them and will display them all. Google contacts seem to have a limit on the number of fields you can save.

After moving out of MobileMe, I'm using Google Contacts. It's a reliable proven system that I've used as my email, docs, reader, calendar, and other services. The best feature is that it syncs with my Apple address book, iCal, just like MobileMe. With Google Voice, it's even better.

After Apple regains my trust, once they've built a track record with iCloud, I may reconsider. As of the present it's too limited and you have no control over what's restored if you change to an SSD, or new Mac. It restores everything whether you like it or not.

I've been using it for 3-4 months without any hiccups at all

I tried google, yahoo and running my own card dav server. This is the most reliable solution by far. I'd like iCloud but I don't like lion at all.

I backup my contacts once a week. If fruux away I'll be back on the hunt for a reliable carddav server. They seem to have smart people And good backing.

Agree, always used Google for contact backup on the iPhones, and GSII obviously lol.
