Just wondering where everyone is storing their female to female lightning adapter that comes with the Apple Pencil?

I actually prefer charging the pencil with it, rather than sticking the pencil into the IPP. So, I'm considering just using the adapter as the "tip" of the pencil, instead of the magnetic tip that is usually used. Good idea or bad?

The adapter is so darn easy to lose either way. And I would rather not have to open the pencil's original box every time to pull the adapter out.

Thoughts?

Good question! I have been quietly wondering the same. For the moment I have left it attached to a lightning cable so I don't lose it but I would like a better option. Maybe attach some kind of adhesive tether to it so you can hook it to a loop in your laptop bag?

I store mine in the original box (along with the pencil). Free transportation case that doubles as a stand on the table to elevate it a little when drawing :).

Cozy has the perfect solution! It's called "a leash for your Lightning adapter". Weird name, but great product.
They also sell a leash for your pencil cap. You can get them both delivered together in a few days for eleven dollars.

Disclosure: I do not work for Cozy, nor do I have anything to gain by promoting their products. I just happen to think this is a great thing! I found out about Cozy when I wanted to ensure I didn't lose my magsafe adapter. As far as I can tell, if you lose your pencil adapter, you cannot get another—they simply aren't available for sale. However you can get a cord to charge your pencil with, so that's almost as good. You cannot charge it and use it at the same time though. According to Apple, that is an intentional feature. (yea right!) They sell the cords on Amazon.

I believe it's much more convenient to charge the pencil with the iPad pro...have never used the included adapter which is still in the original box.

I've been charging my Pencil with the iPP but honestly it makes me nervous hanging off of it. I frequently use it in bed at night and while the charging is fast I just hope my husband doesn't knock into it or I don't go to do something and the Pencil gets snapped off. The iPP charging is so convenient but I'd like to try to develop a habit of plugging it into the cord instead.

Your concerns are valid.
Charging off the iPad is not a smart move.
There will be several people on these boards who will break their connector in this exact manor.
Some may even blame Apple.
Best to protect a $99 investment with a dedicated charging cable.

I ordered the Cozy Industries combo 2-pack from them directly (pencil cap and lightning connector with "leashes", 9.99 for both) and received yesterday. Nice product and they processed and shipped fast. A little personalized Thank You written on the receipt as well. Got it in white to match the pencil and my charging cords. With the pencil cap on it does prevent the Pencil from rolling on the table so that's a huge plus. And now my lightning connector is more or less permanent attached and can securely come off or on at will. Very happy with both.

Will also mention that the Pencil with the Cozy on it can still be stored in the box it came in so hopeful when I find a Pencil case I like enough it will work in there too.

I noticed that Cozy products are also sold thru the Apple Store. Didn't notice the Pencil Adapters there yet but sure other Apple Pencil owners would find it easier to find if it gets picked up there. In fact had to type in Cozy in the search to bring it up to order. http://www.apple.com/search/cozy?src=globalnav

Thanks wtsitmm!

Yeah, I would just leave the connector on the cable. There really isn't a need to take it with you unless you are going out of town, in my opinion.

Same with the folks that say leave it on the cable. I would rather it sit at my desk with the cable instead of trying to carry it around between meetings.

I think the problem is because it's so small if you take it off your cable so you can go back to the male end of the cable for another purpose and you set the adapter aside, it can be "lost" by people and read a few reports already...knocked off a table or whatever. The Cozy leash at least gives you the option of using it or connecting to the cable as intended and not misplacing the piece without ever really separating it from the cable.

Heck I wonder how many people opened their Pencils, left the adapter in the packaging, forgot about it and then toss the packaging with the connector in it. Until I started seeing posts about this I had forgotten one got shipped with the Pencil.

I'm waiting for my 12.9" IPP & Pencil to arrive this morning and that looks fantastic-shame I can't find anyone selling them here in the UK. :(

[Edit] - Just realised they ship internationally, so for £9 or so delivered for a pack of two, it was rude not to!
