I was going to order 2x2GB of RAM for my 08 Mac Pro, but I am reading that the best configuration is to install your RAM in sets of 4. I looked at benchmarks the OWC did with different RAM configurations and it seems to support that notion. The data says that you get better data throughput when you install in 4's, so my questions is, in real world uses, where will use see the benefit from that?

Since the Mac Pro comes with 2x1GB RAM installed, what's the recommended RAM to get?

stock (2x1GB) + pair (2x2GB)
stock (2x1GB) + quad set (4x2GB)
stock (2x1GB) + matched stock (2x1GB) + quad set (4x2GB)

Thanks!
