Hey guys, I'm moving into an apartment with a big white wall. I've got an aluminum macbook, surround sound speakers, I think it'd be fun to hook this up to a cheap projector to display on the wall.

If you were looking for a sub $300 projector, where would you look? What level of projector would you look for? What kind?

Thank in advance for your advice!

Depends on your use I suppose - my g/f swears I have ADD so I like to have some streaming videos playing all the time with the TV on and 2 monitors :p - I use the AAXA P1 pico projector - it's a bit over $200 has an LED bulb which basically lasts forever. Quality is 640x480 which is acceptable for youtube, TV, etc. but it can't compare with real HD TV (obviously). Not that great for movie watching and when the lights are on, but pretty cool with the lights down/off...

That's probably your best bet there are some cheap ebay projectors for $300 but a lot of them have very low quality or very low bulb life and they're going to stick you another $100-200 for just the bulb... If you had a larger budget there's also the Benq GP1 which is not at portable as the AAXA P1 but a lot brighter.

If you wanted a real movie projector I suggest looking at some of the DLP ones they start at $600-700 but you will have to replace the bulbs every so often...

Ooops sorry just noticed the OP was from February... my bad for dragging up a dead one...
