Where's his icons/folders? (screenshot)

I'm new to mac, I like this setup but how does he get to downloads/stacks folder and his other apps from this simple dock?

I don't know, but I can tell you this: Search this forum for "icon problem" and other variations and you'll find plenty of stories about the headaches people have caused themselves by playing around with how things look. The computer is a tool, not a art museum piece. But if you insist, don't say you weren't warned.
