I usually leave my Imac asleep but when I came up to look today, there was no mail tab in the dock. Matter of fact i do not know where it is or how to get it back. Now this one has me this time, tell me how simple it is or just what I overlooked. No mail, strange indeed...

You might have clicked 'remove from dock'
In Finder click "Go", "Applications" hopefully the Mail program will be sitting there. Drag it back into the dock.

When you get it back into the dock, hold down the CTRL button when you click on it, and make sure the Options/Keep In Dock is selected.
