average stuff email, time machine, browsing web pages, aperture etc. Having said that, gaming and editing with Final Cut Studio won't hurt either :D

I used to edit video with Final Cut on a 400Mhz G3, and HD video on a 1.5Ghz Powerbook...anything you buy today will do what you want. The 9400M actually works just fine for basic Motion work.
