FINALLY decided (after several months) to get a new iMac instead of a MBP. Bought my current iMac new in May of 2011. It is the base model 21.5 and i upgraded it to 16GB RAM.

So from what I gather, the late 2014 iMac had a faster video card than the 2015 models, but i think i have a 512MB one in my computer - so ANYTHING will be faster.

I find myself getting caught up in the benchmark scores, which is dumb, since the new ones are almost 2x faster than mine. Using this for photography, running CC 2015 and such. Is it worth it to spring for the 3.3GHZ over the 3.2 i5? I swear I am the most indecisive person on this planet ...

To be honest the most important thing for your use case will be SSD, make sure you have that or at least some sort of fusion. Remember that the 21.5 inch iMac now has soldered ram so if you want 16gb you'll have to order it when buying.

To be honest if I was you I'd aim for the 27 inch iMac with a 2tb fusion drive or a 256gb SSD.

I am getting the 27" no doubt and probably the fusion drive as well. 256SSD is too small for my needs though right now
