Hi,

I want to buy a new iMac 27 inch.
I will use it for:
- Surfing the web, mail, listen to music etc.
- Play Steam games (Orange Box)
- Use Aperture 3 (in combination with my Canon EOS 1000D)

Which 27 inch is for me --> Core 2 Duo vs i5

I'd personally go with i5. C2 will probably be sufficient for now, but for future investment, I'd future-proof as much as possible...plus, the i5 isn't that much more expensive.

Make sure you perform the yellow-screen tests when you get your machine. Many think the problem has been resolved, but in my experience, it's not.

I do the same kind of stuff as what you've listed and i went for the C2D machine, and to be honest it's a beast! Yeah the i5 is obviously a better equipped machine, but if that's all you need it for, your not really going to benefit from the differences, it'll still do the same stuff only a few seconds different

i5 is almost twice as fast... Aperture is the only app that may benefit from it now but you never know what's happening in future ;)

i5 is only 300$ more, it should be no brainer
