Hello folks

Since nobody really seems to feel the speedup that comes with
Q2DX enabled, I decided to test some apps if they do use
Hardware Acceleration or Q2DX using the Quartz Debug Tool
with Flash Screen updates option. Here some results:

Finder doesn't
Safari does (page rendering)
VLC player does
Mail does
iTunes doesn't
Quicktime doesn't
Preview does
GraphicConverter 4.8 for window edges
Stickies does
XCode does
Camino 9a doesn't

However, I might be wrong but most GUI Components (Scrollbars etc. DON'T???

The best difference can be seen in the Demo Apps in the developers folder,
if you switch between hardware and software acceleration.

What are your experiences? Im still a little bit disappointed if I think
Safari might not go faster even with Q2DX enabled.

Sorry to dig this thread up from a few pages back, but I hadn't noticed it before. What exactly is accelerated by Q2DX is dependent on a number of factors, including what graphics card you have, what graphics API the program is using (quickdraw apps like Camino can't be accelerated), and probably other factors. I would also guess that it attempts to accelerate only active windows, to save on vram, but I don't know for sure.
