Which base is the better value? 512 or 1TB

That doesn't matter. What amount of disk space do you NEED? Because if you don't get enough, then it won't matter what is the most for your dollar.

I think the 1TB base system is a good value, if you need the 1TB. Otherwise the 512 GB system is a steal.

The 16" 512GB base system has a GPU much faster than the older base unit and 512GB SSD instead of 256GB. And for the same price as the 256 GB 15" MBP.
