So, based on pictures of the review units with an SD sticking out, are we able to determine which BaseQi flush microSD adapter would best fit the new MBPs?

Probably 303A or 504A?
Or maybe we’ll need a new specific adapter for the new MBPs? (possibly in space gray too…funny to think the last time we had an SD card slot, MBPs used to come in 1 color)

Thank you! My question exactly! I'm interested in knowing if this adapter and which kind/make of Micro SD card would work for longer term storage on a new MBP. I need to offload finished video files for future viewing, so I'm not looking for constant read/write or normal backup.

I ordered 303A for delivery today. I'll test it out and let you know. My Dad's 2012 has the Transcend expansion installed and it fits mine perfectly. I ordered the 303A as its supposed to fit that model too, so it should theoretically be the right one.

Please keep us posted!! I am interested in your findings!!

Hi All

I wrote to BASEQI about this matter. They replied: "Our existing adapters only support UHS-I cards, so will not work in the new 2021 MBP 14 & 16" which support UHS-II transfers. We are planning on making new adapters for the new MBP 14 & 16", and will let you know once the new adapters are available for purchase." Hoping they are available in space grey!

Cheers

Can you please share how the 303A fit with your new MBP?

I've tried it the BaseQi 303A in my 2021 MacBook Pro 14" and it doesn't go well. I thought it's just an adapter with terminals, apparently it's not that simple. Test results with Sandisk microSD Extreme 512GB:

Regular microSD > SD adapter:
Write: 75MB p/s
Read: 89MB p/s

BaseQi 303A adapter:
Write: 21MB p/s
Read: 22MB p/s

I came close to getting the 303A adapter as when I measured the depth of the 14" slot it seemed to be very close to the dimensions of the 303A. I'm glad I didn't though and decided to wait given your results of the speed test. You can sign up to be notified of when the fully compatible version is release by Baseqi:

I ordered a 303A before seeing this thread for my new MBp 14" and first thing I did was run blackmagic and got:
Write: 47MB/s
Read: 87MB/s

This was with an old Samsung EVO Plus 256GB MicroSDXC UHS-I / U3 / Class 10

So I'm happy with it while I wait for BaseQi to release an updated version.
