i just order an unlocked iphone4s, I don't want to use at&t.

can i have other choices? I would like to use pre-paid t-mobile, but seems like it doesn't support 3G on iphone, is that right?

thanks

If you are referring to the US, that is correct. The CDMA version of the 4s supports Verizon and Sprint, but the only GSM 3G network is AT&T.

AT&T and T-Mobile are the only GSM carriers in the US. T-Mobile uses a different radio band for its 3G, so an unlocked iPhone using a T-Mobile SIM would only be able to take advantage of their Edge.

It isn't that AT&T only has the frequency, it is the universal frequencies are what are in the iPhone, they work with AT&T and other international carriers, it is T-Mobile which has the unusual frequency.
