Which carrier prepaid card to pick for a brief stay in NYC?

Last time I visited NYC I remember I bought a T-Mobile for my iPhone 4S but it didn't work at 3G speeds, just at EDGE, which was terrible.

I'm going to visit NYC once more this year, which GSM carrier should I pick for a prepaid plan that would give me decent amount of data at really high speeds?

Not sure what model you picked but the current verizon model will work on all carriers.

Picked the unlocked one, so I'll get a GSM prepaid plan when I get there, I just don't know which one offers the best speeds in NYC. And as far as I know you can't buy a prepaid from AT&T to begin with.
