I recently purchased an Asus 27” 4K (Model PA279CV) to connect to a Mac Mini M2 Pro. I connected the computer using the HDMI, everything is working fine, however I just want to know if this is the best connection. The monitor has USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type C, USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type A and DP port, it’s a little confusing. My main use is for photo editing, appreciate any suggestions, thanks.

With that type of display - regular 4k@60Hz - you're probably using the best connection overall & keeping the TB ports on your Mac Mini free.

If you connected it via a USB-C to USB-C cable instead of HDMI then you'd gain a 4x USB A hub with only a single cable to the computer but (despite what the specs say) it would only run at USB 2.0 speed. You can probably get the hub working by using a second USB cable from the computer to the display but keeping HDMI for the video.
