Why would you want to work for a consulting firm? They'll pay you far less than they charge clients for your services. Much better to bypass the middleman and sell your skills to the clients directly.

If he's new in the workforce, he may not have the connections yet to pull in big clients. Maybe he wants a few years in a firm that will give a more steady paycheck, and work out from there. Also, chasing clients is not for everyone. That is well out of my comfort zone.
