I am using an unlocked iphone with prepaid t-mobile minutes at the moment. However, I just have voice + wifi, no edge or 3g. I hear everybody talking about t-zones data plans for $6 or $10 but I dont see it anywhere on the tmobile site. Is there any way I can subscribe to 3G or edge from a prepaid plan on tmobile?

I can't really help you with your plan, but I can tell you that it is not possible to get 3g from Tmobile that works on the iPhone. You will be stuck with Edge only.
they dont make it easy for us, do they? what plan do i need to get for edge? the cheapest one i see on their site is $30/mo for internet.
Ask for the 9.99 plan.
Put your sim in a regural flip phone before you call them up.
Dont have your account associate with the iphone cause they will try to sell you the $25 or $30 plans.

thanks for the reply. do you have the 2g plan? how is coverage? speed? its nationwide right? does it come out of my prepaid minutes or do i have to prepay?
i called them and asked for the edge plan but its not possible with prepaid. what other plans are possible with the iphone that will work with edge?
meh its all too expensive compared to using skype for the majority of my calls and prepaid for the rest. ill live without nationwide internet i suppose. i wonder if the upcoming iphone will have tmobile 3g compatibility.
Ask for the unlimited web for phones for $10. Tell them you have a Shadow. I can confirm this works. Make sure your APN is internet2.voicestream.com
Wouldn't count on it unless Apple breaks their exclusivity agreement with AT&T; T-Mobile USA 3G uses completely different frequency bands from literally almost every other GSM carrier on the planet, so the only reason to make a phone with the correct radio would be to sell it for use on T-Mobile's network.
Not unless Apple sticks a Tmobile compatible 3G chip in there. And they will only do that if they will officially sell them on Tmobile.
Apple should stick all the bands in there including cdma ones and then sell it on every service!
