I'm looking to get an external DVD writer for my mac mini, I've had a look around google but can't find any that claim to be mac compatible.

There's only the one LaCie listed on the Apple store, but that's a bit too expensive for me (plus it's firewire and I've only got the one port). Are they like hard drives, can I buy any model and plug and play?

Any external DVD Drive will work. I picked up a $50 DVD-Burner (Super-Multi-Drive) at Best Buy, and it works great (the drive is actually an unbranded Sony).

Any drive will work???? I have a USB LG super-drive with lightscribe hooked up to my PC...you think that will work even though it says windows on the specs...
