I need to pick one reliable drive as my time machine for my new 256GB SSD MBA (which currently has 120GB of data)

Which would people pick:

1) 4 year old 3.5" 250GB drive (ST325082): 7200RPM, 3G/s (was used for Time Machine in a LARGE ENCLOSURE for the past 4 years)

2) 1 year old 500GB Seagate GoFlex Free Agent 5400RPM- 2 year warranty

3) 1 year old 320 GB Western Digital WD3200BEKT 7200RPM - 5 year warranty (was used inside my old black macbook- I installed it last year- so I need to take it out and put it in an enclosure)

Thanks!

why not use a nas so you don't have to bother connecting it?

Because I heard the NAS backup speeds are really slow... Not that USB 2.0 ext HD is that fast, but it is faster, no?

Or is NAS not that slow?
Thanks

I do my backups on wifi on a time capsule. yes, it's slow (partially solved using the 5GHz frequency) but who cares. the point of time machine is that is so unobtrusive that you don't have to bother about anything.

I have Verizon FIOS and they make you use an actiontec router. It seems pretty challenging to add another router to the mix to make a NAS, no?
