Hi,

I use Photoshop CS6 pretty much all day on some pretty big files - 200-500MB. Despite running on a fairly new Macbook Pro, Photoshop has started to become really slow in general.

Im looking into purchasing an external hard drive to use as a scratch disk to boost performance.

Could someone advise on specs I may need to achieve a boost in performance? Im thinking Firewire or Thunderbolt HDD? Any model advice would be great. Not sure I want the hassle of installing a SSD?

I am working off a 2.6GHz Intel Core i7, 8GB, 1600 MHz DDR3 Macbook Pro with Thunderbolt display.

Any help would be awesome! Thanks

I would go with a G-Tech drive of some kind my dad has just bought a standard G-Drive which is a 1TB 7200rpm USB 3.0 drive and is quite happy with it. It also has firewire and thunderbolt versions are available.
