I used to have three external HDDs hanging off my mini to provide media storage. But now I've bought a NAS so I don't need all of them. I might want to keep one for backing up the mini but I'm not sure which to keep.

one is a Western digital studio edition II with 2x1TB drives, set up as RAID1. I think this is a good one to sell as its useful, provides backup and is fairly new.

one is an iomega minimax which I like because its stackable with my 2007 mini, but I have one eye on the (hopefully soon) update, and then it won't stack anymore.

then I have a bog standard 750GB maxtor one-touch. Ugly, but its hidden in a cupboard.

I have half a mind to sell all of them and just use a little portable HDD which doesn't take up a power slot, but what do you think?

ooh nice. so USB2 for now,and then a thunderbolt adapter later, if the new mini has thunderbolt?

I have a USB3 WD portable drive and appreciate the additional speed. Plus I can easily unplug and store offsite - maybe buy two and cycle them.

thanks, sounds like a plan!

I have mine on the FW800 cable. You also get USB3.0 and SATA.
