I have a choice between two graphics cards at the moment, there is only a 5-10 dollar difference so price doesn't matter.

I could get an
ATI Radeon 9600XT 128mb

or an
nVidia FX 5200 64MB

Which would you suggest? I've always been an nVidia person, but it seems like the ATI Radeon might be the better pick here.

Thanks,

When I had a dual 1.42 MDD I had a 64MB regular 9600 and liked the performance. A 9600xt with double the VRAM would smoke the card I was happy with. Good recommendation and choice.

The odd thing is that it was cheaper than the nVidia Graphics Card

whada ya gonna use the card for? desktop stuff? there are also a couple of nice X800 cards out there that would make you happy :)

Thanks but I already ordered it, no matter what I use it for it's the fastest Mac I'm going to have. Tt's my second Mac Resto project so no matter what I'm going to be happy. :D

Good choice with the 9600. My G5 has the same card, and things work pretty well on it. (If I remember right, 720p content runs on it without so much a hiccup.)

I dunno why, but I'm kind of iffy about GeForce cards under OS X as well.
