I didn't see anything like this, so here goes:
I was wondering what most people leave on. The 9400M or the 9600GTM.
I personally keep the 9400M on to save battery life. (Although my colors seem richer with the 9600GTM on....)

i use the 9400m, although i wonder if would be better to use the 9600 since i use my umbp in clamshell mode with an external display(1080p) most of the day.

It depends on what you do. I use mine in clamshell mode most of the time too with the 9600M on all the time.

If your doing like photoshop and thing along that the 9600M can make a difference.

9400 usually. Unless doing photoshop or audio recording. It probably doesn't matter for recording but might as well free up some CPU since I paid the premium for it.

I only use the 9400 when I'm on battery.

As long as my MBP is plugged in, it runs on the 9600GT.

I use the 9400M nearly all of the time except when I'm doing some heavy Photoshopping and editting in Final Cut. The 9400M has plenty of horsepower for most of my everyday tasks.

I've only used the 9600 a couple times, while watching some movies...which probably wasn't even necessary for it then. I just did it out of curiosity, and to make sure it actually worked.

I expected to play a lot more games on here when I got it, but the fact is, I haven't. I have a monster PC desktop that is my desktop powerhouse for gaming and whatever else. However, when out of town on vacation or whatever, I'm sure I'll do a little gaming to kill some time in the car/plane or whatever.

I don't really do anything that NEEDS the 9600 on the laptop...especially when I'm out and about, running on battery power, I wouldn't want to drain it any quicker than necessary.
