So as i am about to order my G5, my question is, other than the obvious differences in storage capacity of the 160gb vs 250gb HD, is there a difference in performance with tasks such as photoshop work, video editing with FCE? I thought I had read in previous threads that they are from different manufacturers and are different types of HD's?.

a bigger drive is also faster as the heads cover more data per second at the same spin rate (7200rpm).

for super speed and staorage space i would get one big drive with your g5 and one raptor 10,000rpm drive

Yup, grab a 74GB 10k Raptor to use as your boot/app drive. Then use the regular (large) drive for storage, lots of people report great performance from the raptors in G5s.
