I would like to bootcamp Windows 10 on my iMac 2020 for C&C Remastered, Planet Coaster/Zoo but I don't want it to sound like a swarm of helicopters like the fans in my Macbook Pro. Has anyone tried gaming and which video card are you using? I found this video but he seems to just be all in on the 5700xt and doesn't say way the 5700 can do in Windows. Thanks for any info.

From what I read, fans will inevitably ramp up to max speed relatively quickly in the new iMac.

Radeon Pro 5700 seems like a sweet spot between price and performance. The XT is more powerful but I doubt you’ll ever notice it.

You might notice it with Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020.

You might be able to find a combination of detail ssettings that make the 5700XT look more compelling than the 5700, without dropping though some playability threshold.

Doom Eternal also shows a difference,

Are these numbers from your own tests with 2 new iMacs or numbers with the desktop versions of 5700/XT?
Because the cards in the Macs are vastly different. As of now it's unclear how much more powerful the XT is, but according to official numbers it's more than 20%.

Also, keep in mind the Mac versions are heavily limited. If the desktop version of the XT pushes 35 FPS, call yourself lucky if the one in the iMac pushes 25.

It's crazy to me that there are no clear distinctions between the 5700xt and 5700 in the iMac. Many people keep throwing out numbers from the cards that aren't in macs. The cards inside these iMacs are going to run into throttling and cooling issues and merit extensive testing to see how that impacts performance. I've seen everything thrown out from an 8% difference in performance to over 30%. If it's truly a 30%+ difference then I think the cost is worth it, I just find it odd that everyone keeps saying 'buy the expensive one duh' without numbers to back up why.

We're already seeing indications that due to throttling the 10 core is at times slower than the 8 core. What's the point of dropping hundreds on a card that potentially ends up so throttled after a brief gaming session that the performance delta ends up being negligible.

Are any 21.5" iMacs have the 5700 video card built in ?
No, the base model 4K 21.5" iMac comes with a Radeon Pro 555X without any upgrade options, and the higher tier 4K 21.5" iMac comes with a Radeon Pro 560X with the option to upgrade to a Vega 20 for an extra $350.

Higher end video cards are limited to the 27" line.

Check out my video on the 5700, I tried to mimic max techs video benchmarks so you can compare:

In all honesty any of the iMacs cards will run the games you are playing but it is best to future proof a bit in case a game with higher demands comes along

They don't seem to throttle but Apple has given them a very conservative power budget of 100w which translates to approx 1300mhz on the 5700 that I have
