Hello All:

I'm looking to switch over to an IMac (currently running a old, old PC). Eventually, I will purchase a new iMac (sometime in the spring), so I'm looking for something to hold me over until then. Once I get the new iMac, I would use this purchase a media station in the kitchen.

Can you please provide some direction as to which of the following I should lean towards?

http://boston.craigslist.org/gbs/sys/928589283.html (I asked if the price is negotiable, haven't heard back yet. + it's an Intel chip. Does that warrant the higher price? What do you think is a fair price?)

http://boston.craigslist.org/sob/sys/929133307.html (great price, but the person lives in a town far from me; don't know if it's worth an hour+ drive)

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

If you just need something to tide you over to the spring, i'd get the cheapest one.

The 1.6GHz G5 is still a very capable computer. And will function well as a media (itunes?) server.

The intel chips are substantially faster though. The link isn't working for me, so I can't comment on the specific model.

Well, I have the same question and the same circumstance with my pc but I plan to buy a new imac this holiday season....any advice?

Also - should I get apple to transfer my files for me or is this something I can do myself... Should I buy from the apple store or should I buy online... I was thinking online but then if I have an issue, I want to be able to hop into the store without a problem...
