My uses are Web Browsing, iTunes, Mac App Store, iPhoto, messing around in Garageband, and maybe some codeblocks. I was debating whether the entry level is powerful enough. I have an i7 gaming rig that I never use as I found it a waste of money and overkill. Would I be able to tell a difference in speed in the tasks I plan to do with the top of the line 27" model? I am a college student so it would be nice if I didn't have to blow 3 grand, but I don't want a decline in performance. Do I need an i7 cpu with what I plan to do? Thanks!

Decide which size screen you want and the lower end model of each will be fine for what you want.

Definitely don't need an i7 for what you do. An i5 will be really fast already because it is quad core. Like the other posted said the base of either the 21" or 27" will be fine, the 27" screen is really nice!
