which ipad 4g for us and japan usage?

Hi All,
I need some help. I am planning to get new ipad 3 with 4g.
I am in the bay area but often go to japan for work. Which carrier is better for me: ATT or VRZ if I don't want to switch sim card/etc?
Is there one which will work as roaming in japan?

Either is fine. Neither Version will support LTE in Japan. Get the Verizon one so when you're in the states you have the option to use Verizon
