I bought my iPad Pro 10.5 in 2018 and am ready to get a new one. I'd like to get some opinions on which current model to get. My use is primarily a web surfing tool. I run a few apps for my finances and some games that I like. I don't need much storage. I have 128gb and use about half of it. I don't see spending the money for another Pro model but I think the Air might be worth it given the M3 chip and a mid-range price. I'm sure I could get by with the base iPad, but I think the better display, somewhat lighter weight and the better chip may be worth getting the Air. What say you? tia

The FaceID function that the pro has is nice, both have USB-C so that you can hook up to a dock, mouse and KB and use with an external screen. If you aren't bothered with the OLED screen see if you can get hold of an M2 version for a good deal or as you say the M3 Air. Both have the same internal RAM if you don't go for loads of internal storage.

Either way I think you will be happy with any of them, its a good upgrade and the extra boost in RAM is nice when it comes to multitasking of heavier websites/apps

The M2 version is just under $700 at Best Buy. Not sure if that's a good deal, but an interesting idea that I had not considered. I'll look into it further. I think my only issue is that the M2 will go obsolete a bit sooner.

At one point, I had the 10.5 iPad Pro also. Absolutely loved it. I went from that to the 2018 11" iPad Pro in 2020 (with A12X chip), and only last year upgraded to the 2024 M4 11" iPad Pro.

I probably have a similar use case as you. I absolutely don't need the Pro from a "power" standpoint. But I'm too used to 120hz ProMotion, that I couldn't go back to 60hz. Particularly since I don't upgrade that frequently and keep my iPads 4-5+ years (like you do), I'm ok spending up a bit to get the better experience. Since the M4 version, it's also got the tandem OLED screens (amazing blacks, great for watching videos, etc) on top of the 120hz.

If you live in the US, you can regularly get the base 11" iPad Pro ($999) for $899 on Amazon (directly from Amazon, not a separate reseller), and it even dipped to $850 during Black Friday.

At a discounted price like that, I think it's worth the upgrade from the iPad Air ($599), just for the screen. You also get the added storage (256gb vs 128gb in the base Pro vs Air), although you said this isn't a real factor for you.

Just a thought!

I think I'm going to go this route. At $899, it's worth it over the Air. On top of that, I get a 5% reward for using my Prime card so the final cost will be around $855.
