So I've been on iPhone 8 now for almost a year and every year I would buy a new iPhone. But this year it seems that Apple are going bigger with their phones. I tried the iPhone X at my local phone shop and I seem to be getting used to it already.

But should I get the iPhone XS 5.8 or the iPhone X?

I'm a bit worried about having a big phone because it might not fit in my pocket.

The iPhone X is also a 5.8 inch screen just like the XS is rumored to be. The XS Plus is rumored to be 6.5 inches and the LCD model is rumored to be 6.1 inches. The X & XS are just about the same size physically as the 8, just edge to edge screen. The XS Plus will physically be around the same size as the 8 Plus. The 6.1 inch will physically be in between those two.

With that said, I carried around a 6 Plus for a year and after 6 months was tired of having a device that big for a phone. Others will say that they prefer the Plus size over the smaller sized phones.

I think the X is the perfect size. However, the screen is not as wide as the Plus models, which doesn’t bother me, but bothers others who went from a Plus to the X. Those people now want to move to the XS Plus when it’s released or have already gone back to a current Plus model.

The only way you’re going to know for sure if you like a bigger phone is to use one for awhile. Unfortunately, the only person who can decide what you like is you. Good luck!

Both phones will be similar in size. If you want a 4.7" display, then you should stick with the 8 and save $. If you want a compact sized phone with high end specs and an upgrade? Go with the Sony Xperia XZ2 Compact.

I would just try to acclimate with the size difference and go for the X to save $ since it would be on clearance at most places.

So basically what you are telling me is that the newer 5.8 phones are basically the same size as the 8 but they make the screen bigger. Ok. Well in that case - I might wait till the XS comes out and see what deals I can get. I usually order the phone directly from Apple when a new model comes out. I'm on a Sim Only plan with EE. I'm going to a concert in November and it would be nice to film the artist in 4K. I would definitely not get a Sony phone. I have an Android tablet that I use for testing my Unity games for Android.

I am not 100% sure the exact measurements, but the 5.8” iphone probably have some of the best OLED screens on the market.

Sony and Apple are the only two mainstream phone companies I know that totally don’t half-ass smaller screen devices. Others offer some sort of other compromises.

Yeah pretty much

Here’s a 6 (same size as an 8) next to the X

Here’s the 6 on top of the X

That’s why it’s so pointless to ask what phone you should get, everyone is different.

Anyone know if the XsMax will be about the same size as the Note 9? Which I think fits very well in the hand...
