Hi...

I am currently away from the UK on business and will be arriving back on tuesday morning - however just curious to know if in Apple, o2, CPW - the iPhone 3g are being put on display for people to fiddle with or are they still the old 2G?

thanks
zain.

Yes my AT&T store also has an iPhone kiosk with the old ones displayed. Kind of ridiculous, since they aren't selling them anymore, and won't anymore.

CPW all seem to have empty display stands.
O2 still have the old iPhones on display.
Apple stores have removed any hint of an iPhone!

It's being launched next week yet the UK at least has seen no advertising at all, no demo models, nothing.

Anyone else think that's a little strange?

Why wouldn't they have demo models around this close to launch?

also, i dont remember any iphone adverts before the original was launched
and does anyone remember when demo units were introduced? again, i dont remember them before it was launched

In the uk, prior to the november iphone release there were:
- no adverts
- no demo units

Demo units were installed in apple stores in the 2-3 hours the store was closed prior to launch at 6.02pm, adverts appeared a couple of weeks later.

However, all iphone-selling stores had banners/posters showing that the iphone was coming. These went up around mid-october. All I've seen is a small A3 poster in my local apple store saying 'Iphone 3g coming 11th July' - thats it.

The 2 stores I've been in recently in Mass. have the current version of the iPhone on display. I've spoken to employees at both stores and they haven't seen the actual new, 3G phones yet either.

I'm glad it's only 2 weeks away now! :apple: :D

This is all a trick to build up the hype for the iphone.

Edit: Plus I dont think they're done with 2.0 yet.

The London Apple Store does not have any hint of an iPhone all old models have been removed, you would think that the iPhone had never been released in the UK.

My local O2 store has an empty iPhone stand and again all the old models have been removed and there is no advertising for the new phone...yet.

Apple must be very confident that there new model is going to sell....

I was just in the Apple Store less than one week ago and they had about 8 of the old iPhones still on display.

Just a thought.....

Hey....I think that the new iPhone 3G will be displaying of July 4th.. because, i was doing some research on last year's launch and they released the iPhone guided tour exactly a week before the actual launch so i predict that the guided tour will be out, and you'll be able to look at the iPhone 3G on July 4th

You can already look at the iPhone 3G ... checkout the MobileMe Guided Tour on Apple.com.

AT&T store in Seekonk, MA still has original iPhone. Talked to a sales rep about what time of day they will be selling them, and like many others have noted, they still don't have info on that and said to check back in a week.
