In my early 2008 20" iMac, I just swapped out the original 2Gb 800MHz RAM for 4Gb 667MHz RAM which I took out of my MacBook.

Memory shortage is rarely an issue for me on the iMac so I am wondering if I did the right thing.

So which is best? More but slightly slower memory, or less but slightly faster?

4GB is better, even if you don't think you have memory shortage issues, OS X likes the room to expand... you'll notice the size difference, the small speed difference is absolutely negligible.

Thanks. I thought so but it is always nice to get another opinion.

All I have to do now is get over my MacBook Pro envy. I just bought my son a 15" MBP Retina. Man that is a beautiful machine. And fast.
