Subject says it all? I just got a factory refurb G5 dual 1.8 - they said on the phone it would have a GeForce FX 5200 Ultra... but system profiler says its got a ATY,RV350 (I think that is exactly) with 64MB.

So should I complain, or is this a mini upgrade?

5200 is "ShaderModel 3.0", 9600 is only 2.0, so you might miss out on some games (and maybe eventually in some version of Core Image).

If it is 64Mb I think thats a normal 9600 non pro. But yes, you got a good deal then, happy you. And just in case you don't ... want such a common ati card, I'll trade you for my dual G5's stock FX 5200 Ultra.;)

That was the $50 upgrade -- which everyone thought was worth it at the time.

Now they are using the ATI9600 with 128MB on the newer machines.

you got the 64 MB Radeon 9600 Pro which shipped with the original G5s. The new option is a 128 MB Radeon 9600 XT. But even the older 9600 is much better than the 5200 ultra.
