I will be migrating my mid '06 MacBook Pro (Core Duo) to my new late '08 MacBook Pro (Core 2 Duo) hopefully this week. My question is, which will be faster to migrate about 110 gigs of information?

Ethernet? (10/100 on old MBP) or FireWire? (400 on old MBP)

The new MBP obviously has the Gigibit Ethernet and FireWire 800 but the old system only has the above. Should I just use the Ethernet or get an 800 to 400 FireWire adapter?

...also, should I migrate from Time Machine or laptop to laptop?

I transferred 166gb over ethernet this morning from my imac to my new stock 2.4 took just over 7 hours. Fire wire transfer just under a a few hours not sure how long as I went out to the super market for groceries.

Any comments on whether to migrate from Time Machine or direct Ethernet connection between the two laptops via Migration Assistant?
