Just got a new puppy and would love to set up a home surveillance camera to monitor him throughout the day. Right now I have an extra macbook set up in front of his crate running iCam Source and iCam on my iPhone. The only problem is that I have a macbook in the center of my downstairs and it runs extremely hot with the camera being on all day.

So here's what I'm looking for, hope someone can help:

  • WiFi Camera
  • Pan, Tilt, and Zoom that can be controlled remotely via iPhone/iPad
  • Easy set-up
  • Dedicated iPhone app
  • Secure

Seems like cams are not very popular here. Hope someone can give me some good advice today. Please and thank you!

Axis makes some very good cameras, but they are pricey too. Anything with remote pan/tilt/zoom is going to cost a pretty penny.

An alternative would be a netbook, such as a Dell Mini 9, with Skype. That's how I do it.
