Okay so I want to buy some kind of desktop Mac.
I want to do lots of video editing, podcasting and quite a bit of gaming. It'd be nice if I got FireWire 400 - but that isn't necessary.
I also want it to be $2000 or below in Australian dollars (don't know how to convert that ...) Any recommendations?

Also, what are these 'refurb' macs people talk about? Is there somewhere in Australia I can get them - and would you recommend one for me or not?

Thanks!! :D

Here is the Australian refurb store:

If you search you'll find that many people on the forums highly recommend buying refurb. I would go for one of the two higher end models of either the old or new iMacs. Not sure how much that is in Australian $ though...

Edit: Looks like you can only get the base model of the new iMacs if you have a $2000 budget. There aren't any refurb iMacs right now but check back daily as there are usually a few.
