Which Mac to Buy?

Question for office purchase (and a slight background) -

Got my 1st Mac in 1984; presently have 8 (5 iMacs (4 Intel (2008); 1 PPC) (2005)); 1 eMac (G4) (2005); 1 MacBook Pro (2008), and 1 G3 iBook (to run a Classic App only)) - so not a new user or new buyer - but am in a quandary, and would appreciate any insight.

Specifically 2 questions:

I need 1 more Mac for the office and could go with either a 24 inch iMac or a 17 inch MacBook Pro. Problem is - the iMac is at the end of its cycle and the 17 inch MacBook Pro is not physically upgraded like the 15 inch.

I'd like to purchase before the end of the year.

So:

1) Any ideas on which to buy, and

2) What upgrades to either may be coming (as secret as Apple is)?

I would recommend any Mac. But my preference is the iMac, it's sleek, all-in-one design and relatively low cost attracts me to the iMac like a magnet!
