I’m considering buying a MacBook Pro for the first time and I’ve been wondering which one would be the best option.

I’m torn between the entry level MacBook Pro 13 i5 1.4ghz and the i5 2.4ghz. Can someone please advice me on this?

Both would be 8GB RAM and 256GB SSD. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

There shouldn't be a significant performance difference.

I would personally save the money.

What do you plan on doing with your MBP?

BTW I own a 1.4 version and do some light photo and movie editing and it runs just fine.

Well, as I’m planning to keep this MBP for as long as I can, I just would like one that will “age well”? Is the performance difference that big?

I don't see a test that would load both the CPU and GPU like gaming or CPU + 4k monitor. This is where the more expensive model will shine, as it has 2 fans.

Hi. May you look at your ram load after a fresh boot of your Mac. I guess you have a base 8 gb model. I consider 1,4 ghz pro 13 as a perfect choice, but in my country there are no 16 gb ram versions for adequate price. It rises the price of MBP 15 2019) And now I own a MacBook Air mid 2012 base model with 4 go ram, which is now the only bottleneck of the system. I feel I will encounter the same issues 4-5 years later if I purchase base ram model again. The thing is that I browse a lot and each safari tab eats 300-400 mb of ram, integrated GPUs eats usually up to 1,5 go. So here we are with 4 gb gap maximum on a 8 gb model(

I intend to keep my MBP for as long as I can and since the difference between the 1.4 and 2.4 is so close I went with the 1.4. However I did get 16Gb of RAM and increased the storage as for my needs it made more sense to future proof it this way.
